PLAYA BLANCA, Panama, November 12, 2015 – A very complicated
mission lies ahead for the female’s duos competing in the VIII
U21 Women’s Central American Beach Volleyball Championship
organized by the Central American Association of Volleyball
Federations in collaboration with the Panamanian Volleyball
Federation.
At the technical meeting held at Royal Decameron Hotel chaired
by Bertha Cuadra, president of the Control Committee and Javier
Ortega, president of the Panamanian Volleyball Federation, it
was announced that eight pairs will compete for the Central
American title won by Costa Rica last year.
From last year’s champions only Yuliana Gonzalez will be back.
She partnered Gabriela Arias to defeat Estephanie Bethancourt
and Natalia Girón of Guatemala in the title match. Now Gonzalez
will be joined by Pamela Zumbado in Costa Rica-1, while
Bethancourt and Giron continue as a team and will be their main
rivals.
Another pair who repeats is the one from Nicaragua with Osiris
Juarez and Socorro Lopez who finished in third place last year
at El Salvador. Nicaragua also will be represented by Katerin
Montealto and María Fernanda Chamorro.
Guatemala also will have the team of Adriana Medina and Milena
Bobadilla while Costa Rica also features a second team of
Jeniffer Fiellen and Vivian Hernandez. Panama registered Iris
Urrunada and Yamileth Montenegro as Team 1 and Stephanie Lezcano
and Karionys Saenz as Team 2.
The eight pairs were divided into two groups. Group A consists
of Panama 1, Nicaragua 1, Guatemala 2 and Costa Rica 2. Pool B
consists of Costa Rica 1, Guatemala 1, Nicaragua 2 and Panama 2.
Panama 1 opens the actions against Costa Rica 2 at 8:30 a.m.
followed by Nicaragua 1 against Guatemala 2. Costa Rica 1 meets
Panama 2 and Guatemala 1 clashes with Nicaragua 2 in the morning
session. |
