El Salvador defeats Panama
MANAGUA, Nicaragua, June 24, 2019 - El Salvador beat Panama 3-0
(25-17, 25-17, 25-23) in the second game of the second day of
the IV Central American Volleyball U23 Championship.
The Salvadoran team recovered from a disadvantage of 10 points
in the third set, to tie it to 19, and end up winning 25-23.
Kiana Velásquez scored 15 points for El Salvador, with 11 from
Gabriela Funes and 8 from María Jiménez. For Panama Yileen NG it
had 9.
The Salvadorans led the game with 38 points of attack to 18 by
from Panama, and 7-2 in service, but in blocking the Panamanians
were better 8-3 and in unforced errors 29 of Panama to 27 by
their opponents.
Noé Fabián, coach of El Salvador: "Panama was applied in the
last set but by claw of the girls could be replaced. Happy to
have obtained a good result 3-0, hoping that it motivates us for
the games upcoming games. In the first two sets a good job was
done, they were applied, but there are still many things to
improve".
Ismael Ortega, coach from Panamá: "You can never be satisfied
much less when you lose, but if there is some degree of
stimulation, by the reaction in the last set. As the tournament
progresses, we hope to recover and play better, already defining
the starting line-up and the changes that are keys".
El Salvador went 1-1 will face Costa Rica on Tuesday at 2:30
p.m., while Panama measures Honduras at 4:30 p.m. |
