MANAGUA, Nicaragua, December 8, 2015 – El Salvador outdueled
Belize in three close sets (26-24, 25-21, 26-24) as both teams
have now one victory at the XVI U20 Women’s Central American
Championship.
It was a pretty equaled match in all facets. In attacks, El
Salvador had 32 to 31 by Belize. In the blocking the teams tied
4-4 while in aces the Salvadorians led 10-8. The losers
committed 34 errors to 23 by the winners.
Soriano was the best for El Salvador with 16 points, followed by
Gabriela Funes with 11. For Belize, Mya Musa had 13 and Kori
Diego was next with 11 tallies.
Laura Villalobos, captain of El Salvador: “We had moments of
desperation when we trailed in the score but were able to
control the situation. We worked hard and defended well. I think
we are going to improve in the next matches.”
Juel Lewis, captain of Belize: “We really tried but couldn’t
finish. It was a good game, we started well but they were strong
and kept it that way. Our mentality was high, battled hard but
faced a very good team.” |
