Electrifying triumph of Dominican over Thailand in 5 sets
BANGKOK, Thailand, June 4, 2019 - The Dominican Republic scored
an electrifying triumph over host Thailand in five sets (31-29,
13-25, 30-28, 20-25, 16-14) and thus leveling their win-loss
mark at 4-4 in the FIVB Women's Volleyball League of Nations.
Brayelin Martinez scored 36 points and Bethania de la Cruz added
17 as the top scorers of a winning team that had Jineiry
Martínez (9), Prisilla Rivera (8), Yonkaira Peña (8) and Lisvel
Eve (7) as important contributors.
Chatchu-On Moksri and Pleumjit Thinkaow were the best on the
offensive of Thailand with 23 and 20 points, respectively.
Once again the blockade was an important part of the Dominican
success by getting 14 points on the net. Brayelin, Jineiry and
Bethania had 3 each.
"It was a difficult match as we expected," said the setter
Niverka Marte after the victory. "The matches against Thailand
are always very close. We are very satisfied and happy with
coming out with the win. "
Regarding his next game against Bulgaria, Marte said: "We have
to wait to analyze and wait for the instructions of the coaching
staff."
The fourth victory gives the Dominican Republic one more than
its 3-12 total last season. It is the second success against a
host team since in the first week they beat the Brazilian team
in Brasilia. |
