LA PAZ, Baja California Sur, May 15, 2022 – The
American duo of Cory Evans and William Kolinske
defeated Mexicans Juan Virgen and Miguel Sarabia
2-0 (21-19, 21-17) in 41 minutes to claim the
men’s title of La Paz Beach Volleyball
Tournament, the third stop of NORCECA Circuit.
In semifinals, Virgen/Sarabia advanced after
their 2-1 (21-19, 15-21, 15-13) over Puerto
Ricans Kevin Rodríguez and Josue Rivera in 53
minutes. Cory/Kolinske defeated Canadians Jake
MacNeil and Alex Russell 2-0 (21-15, 21-18).
The bronze medal match in the men's branch,
which was a battle that lasted 54 minutes, went
to Gutierrez/Rivera 2-1 (16-21, 22-20, 21-19)
over MacNeill/Russell.
In the classification matches for the 5-8
positions, Mexicans Jorge Barajas and Gabriel
Cruz defeated Guatemala’s Andy Blanco and Luis
García 2-0 (21-15, 21-15) and Thimothy Brewster
and Logan Webber of USA beat Canada’s Simon
Fecteau-Boutin and Hugo Rosso-Bonneau 2-0
(21-12, 21-13).
Fifth place went to Brewster/Webbner who
defeated Barajas/Cruz 2-0 (21-19, 21-17).
Seventh place was accredited to Blanco/Garcia by
forfeit against Fecteau-Boutin/Rosso-Bonneau
while Costa Ricans Criforth Lobo and Fabian
Guerra finished in ninth place after their 2-0
(21-10, 21-14) win over Austin Pipen and Daniel
Samuelson of U.S. Virgin Islands.
Fifteenth place went to St Clair Hodges and
Shawn Seabrookes of St Kitts and Nevis while
Mexicans Ricardo Galindo and Isaias Aguirre won
thirteenth place by forfeit against Bryce Mayer
and Brian Kwasny of U.S. Virgin Islands. In a
match between Salvadorans, Franklin Flores and
Armando Guatemala took eleventh place following
their victory over David and Gabriel Vargas 2-0
(21-18, 21-12). |
