Exciting Quarterfinals in Women’s Beach Volleyball

SANTIAGO, Chile, October 23, 2023 - With the qualification of Puerto Rico, Argentina, Peru, and Chile, an exciting quarterfinal round of the Women’s Beach Volleyball tournament at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago are expected on Wednesday.

Maria Gonzalez and Allanis Navas from Puerto Rico defeated Karelys Simisterra and Ariana Vilela from Ecuador 2-0 (21-17, 21-14) and will face Brandie Wilkerson and Melissa Humana-Paredes from Canada in the quarterfinals.

Ana Gallay and Fernanda Pereyra from Argentina also secured their spot in the quarterfinals by defeating Julibeth Payano and Bethania Almanzar from the Dominican Republic 2-0 (21-18, 21-15). They will now face Atenas Gutiérrez and Abril Flores from Mexico.

Lisbeth Allcca and Claudia Gaona from Peru won 2-0 (21-19, 21-19) against Erika Mongelos and Michelle Valiente from Paraguay, setting up a quarterfinal match against Ana Patricia and Duda from Brazil.

Maria Rivas Zapata and Chris Vorpahl from Chile won 2-0 (21-18, 21-16) against Diana Rios and Margarita Guzman from Colombia. The Chilean team will compete in quarterfinals against USA’s duo of Corinne Quiggle and Sarah Murphy.
