FECAVOL held General Assembly in Costa Rica
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica, February 18, 2019 – The Central American
Association of Volleyball Federations held its annual general
assembly where the new presidents of Minor Valenciano Acosta of
Costa Rica and Eduardo Guerra Mendieta of Panama along with the
reelected Bertha Cuadra of Nicaragua were introduced in the
presence of Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, president of NORCECA.
During the working sessions the representatives of the seven NF
received the annual reports from the presidency, the secretary
and the treasurer of AFECAVOL.
The agenda also included the report of the huge and successful
coverage by the social media of all the events organized by
AFECAVOL that was presented by Carolina Rivas the press officer.
The representatives also received and analysis of the surveys
conducted to gauge the services offered by the organizing
committees of the events held in 2018 which was considered very
satisfactory by the participants in the events.
Marte Hoffiz presented his comments about the real situation of
volleyball at world level and the opportunities made available
by FIVB for each National Federation, AFECAVOL and NORCECA,
including the important new election system to name the
representative of AFECAVOL in the higher bodies like NORCECA and
FIVB.
Each National Federation presented the facilities and conditions
that will be available in each of the nine competitions
scheduled and approved in 2019 in AFECAVOL which are the
following to be confirmed the dates and places in the next
fifteen days:
1. IV U23 Women’s Championship, Nicaragua June 21-30
2. XI U21 Beach Volleyball, Guatemala July 10-15
3. XVIII U20 Women’s Championship Honduras July 15-23
4. XIX Major Beach Volleyball Belize July 17-22
5. XIII U18 Girls’ Championship Costa Rica August 5-14
6. XIII U19 Boys’ Championship Nicaragua August 18-26
7. XVIII U21 Men’s Championship El Salvador September 21-30
8. II U19 Beach Volleyball Championship Panama TBC
9- II U17 Girls Beach Volleyball Championship in Panama TBC
The day before the general assembly, a working session took
place with the new authorities of the Costa Rican Federation
chaired by Valenciano Acosta and President Marte Hoffiz
accompanied by Edgar Alvarado First Vice President of NORCECA
and Jose Luis Jimenez, General Secretary.
The topics discussed included the contribution of more than
US$280,000 offered by FIVB and NORCECA to FECOVOL during the
period 2015-2018, the financial assistance for the participation
in the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour and the Continental and Pan
American competitions of NORCECA.
Also the scholarships for the participation of coaches, referees
and staffers in the courses organized in the Development Centers
in Dominican Republic and Tijuana, Mexico.
Marte Hoffiz informed of the support offered by NORCECA in case
Costa Rica organize Continental and Pan American events and any
other eventual opportunities.
The new authorities of Costa Rica, represented by Valenciano
Acosta expressed their full support to all the programs and
activities that NORCECA and FIVB can offer to Costa Rica. He
said the new executive committee is going through a rapid
process of getting used to the working procedures in order to
make their Federation an efficient organization with
satisfactory results. |
