FIVB Board of Administration Minority Gender Positions Confirmed

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina, October 6, 2016 – Morocco Volleyball Federation President Bouchra Hajij and former Indonesia Olympic Committee President Rita Subowo were elected as Board of Administration 2016-2020 Minority Gender members at the FIVB Congress on Thursday.

There were three candidates for the two positions as per the following:

Bouchra Hajij (Morocco). Ms Hajij is the President of the Morocco Volleyball Federation, a former Morocco national volleyball player and a member of the IOC's Culture and Olympic Heritage Commission.

Rita Subowo (Indonesia). Mrs Subowo is an FIVB Executive Vice-President and former IOC member and former President of the Indonesia Olympic Committee.

Margaret Ann Fleming (Scotland). Ms Fleming is the Chief Executive Officer of the Scotland Volleyball Federation, the Vice-Chair of the FIVB Disciplinary Panel and President of the European Small Countries Division.

Ms Subowo received the most number of votes (153) with Ms Hajij receiving 147 and Ms Fleming 70. 

Cuba’s Mireya Luis Hernandez and Venezuela Volleyball Federation President Judith Rodriguez had earlier been confirmed (Board of Administration meeting in April) as candidates but had withdrawn their candidature prior to the election.

The Congress acknowledged a proposal from the floor to investigate the possibility of including all three candidates in the FIVB structure due to the quality of the candidatures and in respect of the FIVB's goal to more female representation inside the volleyball family.
 

Meanwhile, the Congress earlier approved the appointment of the internal auditors:
