Farewell to Canada at WCH after loss against Germany

 

KATOWICE, Poland, September 14, 2014 - Canada finished their participation at FIVB Men’s world championship after losing in straight sets against Germany (26-28, 22-25, 23-25).

 

The European team captured the last spot available to the third round in Pool F of the FIVB Men’s World Championship.

 

Gyorgy Grozer with 18 points led Germany, while Gavin Schmitt was Canada's leader with 10 points.

 

Both teams scored 7 points with blocks. Despite winning the match, Germany made 23 errors, while Canada made only 19.

 

The Germans were joined by hosts Poland and Iran from Pool E to complete the six teams with options to claim medals at the 2014 edition of the quadrennial volleyball competition.

 

Germany scored 5 points with efficient serves, while Canada gained just one.

 

The Europeans needed just two sets to get their third round tickets, however, they managed to win also the third one.
