GUAYMAS, Mexico, April 1, 2016 – Brothers Taylor and Trevor
Crabb played up to their condition as favorites by winning their
first two matches on opening day of the second leg of NORCECA
Beach Volleyball Circuit taking place on the sands of San
Francisco in this city of the State of Sonora.
In Pool B, they defeated Jamaica’s Triston Hitchman/Omar
Williams 21-17, 21-11 and Costa Rica’s Bryan Monge/Richard Smith
21-11, 21-14 even though the latter still keep their hopes of
advancing to the quarterfinals as one of the top two teams of
the group following a 21-17, 21-11 victory over Darnell Eudoxie
and Tevin St Jean of St Lucia.
Meanwhile in Pool A, Cuba’s Nivaldo Díaz and Sergio Gonzalez,
serious contenders for the gold here as bronze medalists at the
Toronto Pan American Games 2015 and winners of five titles in
the NORCECA Circuit in the last two years.
In this very strong pool Canada’s Christian Redmann/Felipe
Humana defeated Mexicans Ricardo Galindo/Juan Revuelta 21-15,
21-19, but then had to face Nivaldo and Sergio, winners 21-11,
21-10 with a powerful display, a lot of control a few flaws.
Stafford Slick and William Allen of United States-B got
victories over Marc Lomeli/Dillon Lesniak of U.S. Virgin Islands
21-16, 21-7, and Jason Cabral/Baydr Sajia of Belice in Pool C,
where Guatemala’s Andy Leonardo/Luis Garcia also defeated the
same two teams to keep alive their hopes of advancing.
In Pool D, José Luis Rubio/Josué Gaxiola of Mexico-A won 21-12,
21-11 over Dominicans William Sanchez and Luis Castillo who
reacted with a courageous victory over Trinidadians Whitfield
and Williams in three sets 20-22, 21-19, 15-10.
