Cool Volley Festival held
in St. Kitts and Nevis
St Kitts and Nevis,
February 3, 2012 – More than 100 kids aged 10-12 took part in
the first “Cool Volley Festival” in St. Kitts and Nevis held
last January with very positive results, according to national
federation president Glenn Quinlan.
The St. Kitts and
Nevis program involved 10 of the 21 primary schools in the
sister islands and had the assistance of the Ministry of
Education and the Department of Sports with the transportation
where necessary.
Kids were divided in
teams of 10 members, each one took part in the matches with the
sets played up to 15 points and lasted around seven minutes.
“The response was
very positive and the schools that didn’t take part would like
an opportunity to participate in future programs,” Quinlan said.
“The federation is
now following up with all primary schools and hopes to present
an expanded program in the future,” he added.
The organization
process included the contact with the schools in mid-December
and the explanation of the program to them. Volleyball personnel
helped in preparing courts and were assisted by national players
and Level I and II coaches. |
