Female Semifinal matchups in ECVA Beach Youth Olympic Beach

PIGEON POINT, St Lucia, October 19, 2013: The semifinal match
ups in the female component of the Eastern Caribbean
Volleyball Association(ECVA) Zone of the NORCECA Round of the
Youth Olympic Beach Qualification Tournament, have been
determined.
Featuring in Sunday’s semifinals are St Vincent and the
Grenadines plays St Lucia and Antigua and Barbuda takes on
Grenada.
The matchups were determined after the four participants engaged
each other in round robin play on Saturday.
St Vincent and the Grenadines topped the round robin phase with
two wins and one loss; Antigua and Barbuda was second, also with
two wins and one loss, while Grenada and St Lucia, both recorded
one win.
St Vincent and the Grenadines team of Angelique Allan and
Makhallia Matthias won from Grenada’s pair of Jomelar Billy and
Carsie Paul 2-1( 21-16, 10-21, 15-11) and Antigua and Barbuda
represented by Natasha Best and Zellene Edwards 2-0 ( 21-12,
21-19).
But Allan and Matthias lost out to the St Lucian pair of Dala
Noel and Skye Mondesir 0-2( 15-21, 15-21).
Likewise, Antigua and Barbuda had two wins to their credit and
one loss.
Best and Edwards outweighed Noel and Mondesir 2-0 ( 21-8, 21-18)
and Billy and Paul 2-0 ( 21-10, 21-8).
Billy and Paul ousted Noel and Mondesir 2-1 (24-22, 13-21,
15-9), to record Grenada’s lone win.
Sunday’s semifinals winnersgo forth to the title match , with
the losing semifinalists take part in the third place play off.
The eventual winner earns a straight passage to the debut
appearance of Beach Volleyball at the Youth Olympic Games slated
for Nanjing, China set for August 16 to 28.
