LA PAZ, Mexico, April 10, 2016 - Canadians Brandie Wilkerson and
Julie Gordon claimed their first crown at the Norceca Beach
Volleyball Circuit.
Wilkerson and Gordon won against Allison McColloch and Kelly
Reeves in sudden death after a great comeback in the second set.
Scores were 19-21, 21-11 and 15-10.
“I have no words, it is hard to explain, but thank you for
supporting us,” said Wilkerson, who has become one of the most
followed players of the circuit.
“I didn’t know about that, but I love all the fans. I’m so happy
to play with Julie,” she remarked about her popularity.
This was special for the Canadians who had finished second twice
in the tour after losing against American teams. Sunday’s match
was a revenge of the final played in Guatemala in March.
USA-A, composed by Kimberly Dicello and Kendra Vanzwieten (who
finished as champions in Guaymas) won the Bronze medal in La
Paz.
Vanzwieten and Dicello defeated Karen Cope Charles and Natalia
Alfaro of Costa Rica in two (21-19, 21-13) to earn 252 points
in the ranking.
