PUERTO CORTES, Honduras, June 14, 2015 – Nicaragua claimed its
first title ever at the Central American Senior Beach Volleyball
Championship by defeating Guatemala in the men’s gold medal
match of the fifteenth edition played on Sunday at Playa
Municipal of Puerto Cortes, Honduras.
The duo of Nicaragua-1 consisting of Ruben Mora and Dany
Alvarado wrote their name in the Central American books with
their 2-0 (25-23, 21-18) victory over the tandem of Guatemala-1
(Luis García/Julio Recinos) who were seeking to recover the
title lost in 2014 to the hands of Costa Rica.
Alvarado commented: “I am very happy. This is my first Central
American Major and I am leaving with the title. All the teams
were of good level and you couldn’t point out a favorite. The
teams were more or less of the same level and anybody could have
won the tournament.”
The match for third position was contested between the pairs of
Costa Rica-2 (Bryan Monge/Richard Smith) and El Salvador-2
(Franklin Flores/Armando Guatemala) with the 2-0 (21-14, 21-13)
going to the Costa Ricans.
