Five NORCECA teams to the 2015 FIVB World League
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic - For the first time in
history a total of five teams of the NORCECA Volleyball
Confederation will be part of the FIVB World League.
The United States, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Canada will
take part in this competition in the year 2015, after the
results their team obtained in the final ranking of the IX Men’s
Pan American Cup.
Cuba returned to the top of continental volleyball after beating
the United States 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-23) in the final match
of the event played at Baja California High Performance Center
in Tijuana, Mexico from August 11-19.
Cuba’s Captain Rolando Cepeda finished with 20 points in the
gold medal match and was named the Most Valuable Player at the
nine-team event.
“We are so glad for this result as we really worked hard to get
it,” Cepeda said. “For us it was a product of team work and a
big effort in all aspects.”
Argentina claimed the bronze medal by outplaying Puerto Rico in
a five-set thriller (25-21, 25-23, 20-25, 24-26, 18-16) while
Venezuela defeated Mexico 3-1 (22-25, 25-20, 25-15, 25-23) in
