POTSDAM, Germany, March 10 , 2015 - Mexican player Seomara Sainz
has become quickly one of the most popular players of the German
League after being named MVP for the fifth time since she was
signed by the Potsdam SC of the Bundesliga.
Sainz has become a sensation with the European team that is one
of the top contenders of the Bundesliga. She also finished the
regular season as second best in reception.
“It is a very different rhythm of play here, much different than
in Mexico, because it is faster and you face taller players,”
She said about an experience that has served her to improve her
thechnique. “I have also trained with the same intensity,
because there is not a big difference in that between Germany
and Mexico”.
The discipline and hard work in every drill has been a key after
the years she spent under the direction of Argentinean coach
Estanislao Vachino with the Baja California state teams.
“When I was in charge of youth and junior national teams,
everybody asked me who was the top prospect, and who could
become one of the best in Mexico, I said that Seomara had the
talent and qualities, but nobody believed that,” said Vachino.
At a very short age, Sainz has played Pan American Cups,
Continental Championships, one edition of the Central American
Games and even World Championships in different categories.
She and the Mexican team finished in fourth place at the Central
American and Caribbean Games after a long and tough battle
against Cuba for the Bronze Medal.
However fans felt so fortunate to follow such an spectacular
match at the Cordoba Arena. Not only Sainz was one of the
popular youngsters on the court. Also Cuban Melissa Vargas
captured the attention as a signal of the bright future of the
game in the Norceca region.
Sainz returned to Mexico just for the Games and after that she
continued with her work in Germany. However there have been more
possibilities to see her once again in her native country once
the Bundesliga finishes.
Family matters
“I feel so proud of her, everytime she goes out to play, it has
been a very great feeling for us as family,” said her sister
Karla Giselle Sainz, who also played for the National Age Groups
and Senior teams.
When Seomara was with the youth squads, Karla was the captain of
the U20 unit that played the Norceca continental championship in
2010 and also played at the Central American and Caribbean Games
in Mayaguez, and one year later made the Senior roster at the
XVI Pan Am Games in Guadalajara.
After that process, she began to study in college, but her love
for volleyball goes on as it happens in her family. Her father,
Guillermo, has served as physical education teacher, volleyball
coach, and also has worked as scout.
One of his duties are to find prospects for the volleyball
program of Baja California, that regionally has become the most
successful in Mexico and has granted international recognition
due to the participation in tournaments in the United States.
The mission is to find more players with potential like Seomara
and to develop their dreams and qualities. |
