DURANGO, Mexico, September 23, 2021 – Defending
champions USA outclassed Puerto Rico in straight
sets 3-0 (25-9, 25-15, 25-9) for their fourth
victory without losses in Pool C at the U18 FIVB
Girls’ Volleyball World Championship.
The Americans overwhelmed their opponents in
blocks 14-1 and serves 6-0. Each team committed
16 unforced errors and the winners dominated
39-16 in attacks.
Eloise Brandewie led USA with 13 points,
including seven blocks, while Devin Kahahawai
and Julia Blyashov added 12 and points,
respectively.
In another match, Italy defeated Dominican
Republic 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-19) with Julia
Ituma and Dominika Giuliani leading the way with
15 and 14 points, respectively.
Alondra Tapia, Alanae Margaritha and Ariana
Rodriguez each had 6 points for the Dominican
side.
The Italians totaled 10 aces (four by Ituma and
three by Giuliani) against 6 by the defeated
Dominicans. |
