TOKYO, Japan, August 7, 2021 - France survived
strong resistance to edge Russia in five
instances and win the men's volleyball gold
medal by scores of 3-2 (25-23, 25-17, 21-25,
21-25, 15- 12 this Saturday.
Earvin Ngapeth scored 26 points, with 2 blocks
and 3 aces, as the best for France, followed by
Jean Patry with 15 points. Maxim Mikhaylov and
Egor Kliuka had 21 and 20, respectively, for
Russia.
The Olympic men's volleyball bronze medal match
was a classic South American battle between
Argentina and Brazil won by the Argentines in
five sets 3-2 (25-23, 20-25, 20-25, 25-17,
15-13).
Facundo Conte's 21 points led Argentina,
followed by Agustín Loser (14), Bruno Lima (13),
Ezequiel Palacios (13) and Sebastián Sole (12).
Wallace de Souza led Brazil with 17 points. |
