Full support to BVB Tour from Guatemalan authorities
GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, April 30, 2014. - The Gatorade
Guatemala 2014 BVB Tournament to take place in Campo Marte from
April 30-May 5 has the full support from the sports authorities
in Guatemala.
During a press conference chaired by Marta Centeno de Sajche,
NORCECA Supervisor for the event, representatives of the sports
authorities in Guatemala accompanied the members of the control
committee to welcome the NORCECA Tour to Guatemala.
One of the important details explained by Centeno de Sajche was
the fact that the tour has become the qualification system to
international events, including the Central American and
Caribbean Games, as well as the Pan-American Games.
“This shows how significant the tour is, giving every athlete to
reach international competitions of great importance,” she said.
Positive remarks from the authorities were expressed,
recognizing the importance of promoting beach volleyball in
Guatemala.
Mrs. Zully Saravia, who has been in charge of the organization
since the beginning and is also member of the marketing
commission in NORCECA, is now the Vice President for the Sports
Confederation in Guatemala.
“We are thankful for NORCECA’s confidence in our organizing
skills and for the interest from local media which plays an
important role for the success of the event,” Zaravia said.
The Vice Minister of Sports, Mr. Francisco Ardon not only
greeted NORCECA’s representatives but also indicated his
administration has a special bonding with volleyball.
“Campo Marte opens its gates to one of the most popular sports
in Guatemala, making our commitment in joining efforts with the
organization stronger,” Ardon said.
Arnaldo Sanchez, Director of the Competition, praised the
government support to beach volleyball “as this enhances our
tournament, we always have a packed house at Campo Marte”.
He also applauded and recognized the efforts by the National
Federation to host the NORCECA Tour for eight consecutive years.
“I am honored to be part of this accomplishment and as I always
say, we bring the beach to the city.”
The preliminary inspection and general technical meeting will be
held on Thursday, while the competition begins of Friday,
crowning the champions on Sunday. |
