Guadeloupe dismiss Dominica in three
POINTE-A - PITRE, Guadeloupe June 15, 2013 - The highly
anticipated clash between Dominica and hosts Guadeloupe ended in
an anticlimax as the home side easily disposed of their
neighbors in straight sets 25 -15, 25-12, 25-22 on Saturday.
Guadeloupe’s best scorer was Alexandre Watson with 14 points. Of
those he had 4 blocks and 3 service aces to go along with 7
spikes. Assisting him were Loic Couchy and Gammiette Rosnel who
chipped in with 12 and 10 points respectively. Couchy dominated
with 10 spikes while Rosnel posted 5 blocks.
Guadeloupe now looks forward to the top of the group clash with
Honduras on Sunday while Dominica and Grenada will tangle to
avoid cellar place and restore some pride within their
respective camps
Home team’s Coach Oliver Ismael was not surprised at all. "This
was to be expected since this game was all about service and
reception and we were superior in those categories hence the
scores are not surprising to me," he said.
On the other hand, Dominica's coach Robert Guiste was utterly
disappointed. We simply did not show up. This should have been a
close game but it seems as if the guys suffered from emotional
fatigue after the Honduras encounter. There was no response, no
answer to the opposition’s game. Our blockers were too slow,
nothing worked," he lamented. |
