BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, December 8, 2015 - Guadeloupe boys
rebounded after their opening loss on Day One to defeat Aruba
25-14, 25-20, 20-25, 25-19 on Day Two of the 10th CAZOVA Junior
championships here in Bridgetown.
Outside hitter Marvin Cancan starred once again with 21 kills
with fellow outside attacker Francois Ruffe adding 19 scorchers
for Guadeloupe. Dwayne Angela with 16 points and Ronald Hofstee
with 12 fought valiantly to give Aruba their first victory.
However, Guadeloupe's attack and net defence was equally matched
by the non scoring skills to keep that team's hopes alive of
making it into the medal round. Two games and two loses has left
Aruba with little hopes of advancing.
Coach De Medina Robles was philosophical about their second
loss. "We recognize that it will be hard to make the medal
round but we are playing to represent our country and we will
play all of our remaining games with national pride," said
Robles.
Guadeloupe's coach Gayetann Brousillon was relieved to get his
first win at the tournament. "I was always confident that my
team would have rebounded after the opening loss and just like
how we played better today, we plan to play better tomorrow to
advance to the medal round," said Brousillon. |
