Guadeloupe overhaul TTO to win CAZOVA U18 battle
SPANISH TOWN, Jamaica, July 23, 2019 - Guadeloupe rallied from
two sets down to overpower Trinidad and Tobago 3-2 in the
Caribbean Zonal Volleyball Association (CAZOVA) girls' Under-18
tournament at GC Foster College of Physical Education and Sport
on Tuesday.
With superior all-round abilities, Trinidad and Tobago were able
to stamp their authority over Guadeloupe in the first two sets,
but Guadeloupe fought back gallantly after settling their nerves
to secure scores of 24-26, 20-25, 27-25, 25-22, 15-13.
Guadeloupe won their first match after losing their opening
encounter on Monday 25-16, 25-15, 25-4 to Barbados. It was
Trinidad and Tobago's first match of the tournament.
Coach of Guadeloupe Estelle Dixit said that the players followed
her instructions which resulted in the victory.
"It is a good victory and I am proud of my team. My players were
patient and waited. I told them what to do and they did it," she
said.
Trinidad and Tobago's coach Sean Morrison said, "Yes I am
disappointed. The ladies had a good opening and went up 2-0 and
then committed too many errors after that that cost us the third
set and Guadeloupe were together, they were hyped and they
support each other." |
