Guatemala Wins Female U21 Beach Volleyball Crown
PUERTO CORTÉS, Honduras, November 4, 2018 - María Fernanda
Juárez and Paola Alvarado were awarded the gold medal of the
women's tournament of the XI Central American Championship of
Beach Volleyball Sub 21 after winning 2-0 (22-20, 21-8) over the
couple from Honduras, Cecille Johnson / Shanna Rivera.
After a complicated first set for the Guatemalans, due to the
strength of Johnson's shots and the good service of the Honduran
player, a knee injury reduced her productivity and that allowed
Guatemala to take greater advantage in the second set.
In the match for the third place, the couple 2 of Costa Rica,
Larissa Villegas/Ana Paula Fallas, won 2-1 (16-21, 21-13, 15-10)
against their compatriots Irena and Lucia Gomez.
The previous year in Puerto Jimenez, Costa Rica, Nicaragua left
with the women's title, leaving Costa Rica with silver and
bronze. Honduras this year won one of its first prizes in this
category.
