Guatemala qualifies to NORCECA final WCQT          

BELIZE CITY, Belize, September 29, 2016.- Guatemala secured their qualification to the NORCECA Men’s FIVB World Championship final qualification tournament defeating Panama 3-0(25-20, 25-19, 25-19) at the AFECAVOL zonal qualifier in St. Catherine Academy Center of Belize City. 

Guatemala maintained their strong pace and remained undefeated one day before the conclusion of the event. All Guatemala’s players had the chance to contribute in their fifth consecutive win for a 5-0 record and 24 points. Panama finishes the tournament with 2-4 mark and 8 points.

The undefeated prevailed with 43-32 margin in kills, 3-1 in serves and allowed 18 points from unforced errors. Panama did better in blocking with 7-5 margin and committed 24 errors.

Guatemala’s double digit scorers were middle blocker Andy Leonardo with 13 points and Jeyson Nery Flores with 11 points, followed by Erik Flores with 9 points. Outside hitter Oswald Marshall with 12 points was Panama’s top scorer.

On the last day of competition, Guatemala (5-0) faces Nicaragua (0-5).
