Guatemala rebounds to defeat Costa Rica
PANAMA CITY, Panama, July 29, 2016 – Guatemala defeated Costa
Rica 3-1 (18-25, 25-17, 25-17, 26-24) in the first match of day
five at the U23 Men’s Central American Volleyball Championship
taking place at José “Beto” Remón Gymnasium in Panama.
Guatemala was superior to Costa Rica in positive spikes 51-41,
while Costa Rica dominated in the blocking category 11-6. In
service winners the teams were fairly evenly with Guatemala on
top 5-4.
Wagner Chacon and Carlos Lopez led the Guatemalan offense with
19 and 18 points, respectively. Cesar Gómez was the most
effective player for Costa Rica with 18 points, 14 in attacks.
Costa Rica committed 32 unforced errors, while Guatemala made
