Guatemalan Girls claim ticket to Argentina 2018
PUNTARENAS, Costa Rica, March 12, 2018 – Paola Alvarado and
María Juarez of Guatemala won the U19 Girls’ AFECAVOL Beach
Volleyball Tournament the right to represent the Central
American zone at the Youth Olympic Games Argentina 2018.
Down the road, Alvarado/Juarez faced some complications but were
able to overcome it thanks to their physical conditions and
ability on the sand winning two of their four matches in three
sets against Nicaragua and El Salvador.
The Guatemalans won 2-1 (18-21, 21-12, 15-9) over Nicaragua’s
Anielka Alonso and Lourdes Lugo and then defeated El Salvador’s
Gabriela Funes and Laura Villalobos 2-1 (21-10, 19-21, 15-8).
They also came out winners over Panama’s Karla Ortiz and Yeilin
Hernández 2-0 (21-11, 21-17) and Honduras’ Celine James and
Shana Rivera 2-0 (21-13, 21-10).
Nicaragua’s Alonso and Lugo finished in second place after
closing their participation with victories over Panama 2-0
(21-7, 21-13) and Honduras 2-1 (16-21, 21-18, 15-7).
Third place went to Costa Rica’s Angela Williams and Camila
Villegas who downed Honduras 2-0 (21-8, 21-16) and then scored
victories 2-0 (21-17, 21-10) over El Salvador and 2-0 (21-9,
21-12) over Belize’s Mya Musa and Ayah Safa. |
