Guaynabo Mets are one victory from claiming the title in Puerto Rico

 

SAN SEBASTIAN, Puerto Rico, January 31, 2017 – The Guaynabo Mets are one victory away from successfully defending the crown as champions of the Puerto Rican Men’s Volleyball Superior League by outdueling San Sebastian Caribs in the third match of the best-of-seven Honda Cup Final Series.

 

All three matches held thus far have gone to the limit of five sets as both teams continue to show the qualities that sent them to the finals.

 

San Sebastian won the first two sets of the match but were not able to complete the job and suffered the loss to Guaynabo 3-2 (17-25, 23-25, 25-21, 27-25, 15-13).

 

 Sequiel Sanchez and Pablo Guzman each had 24 points to put San Sebastian on the verge of its fourth title in the history of the league.

 

Eddie Rivera had 24 points in the losing effort and Jeff Plak added 20 but had to leave the match in the fourth set with a left leg injury and was not able to return into the action.

 

The fourth match of the Honda Cup will take place on Wednesday, February1, at Mario “Quijote” Morales Coliseum of Guaynabo at 8:00 pm.

 

The Mets took the victory in the first match held in San Sebastian 3-2 (23-25, 22-25, 25-16, 25-17, 15-10) and then went home to claim the victory 3-2 (22-25, 25-23, 19-25, 25-16, 15-12).
