BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, December 9, 2015 - Haiti girls advanced to
the playoffs unbeaten in the 10th CAZOVA Junior championships by
dismissing former queens Trinidad & Tobago in straight sets on
Day Three at the Wildey Gym, Bridgetown.
With another superlative performance from Solaida Pierre who
scored a whopping 19 points inclusive of 18 powerful kills,
Haiti took the Group D match 25-23, 25-18, 25-16. Haiti were
always in control against an inexperienced T&T team which showed
great fight after trailing most times in the three sets.
Unfortunately, T&T's attack was inconsistent with Nicolette De
Mille and Aaliyah Alexis being the best performers with eight
points each.
On the other hand, Pierre received tremendous support from
Juliette Bayol, 13 points, and Jackie Cherry and Djoulissa Mathe
contributing 11 points each. Haiti more than double the attack
from the girls from the land of the hummingbird executing 44
kills to the losers' 21.
T&T will face the host Barbados on the night of the final
preliminary games with both teams looking for their first Group
D victory. Ironically, T&T had won the inaugural Junior CVC
crown by defeating home team Barbados in the finals back in
1997. |
