Haitian presidents show gratitude to Marte Hoffiz and NORCECA
Tijuana, Mexico, October 31, 2013 – NORCECA Honorary Vice
President Jacques Joachim of Haiti presented a plaque of
recognition to Cristobal Marte Hoffiz of Dominican Republic as
gratitude for all his efforts in favor of Haiti throughout the
years.
Joachim, a venerable fixture in the volleyball family, made the
presentation at the conclusion of the Executive Committee and
Board of Administration held in Tijuana on the occasion of the
XXII NORCECA Congress.
“On behalf of the three previous presidents of the Haitian
Volleyball National Federations, which are Dr. Bernard Naut, my
brother Guy Joachim and me, I want to dedicate this plaque to
our dear president Cristobal Marte Hoffiz of the Dominican
Republic in recognition to all his hard work in favor of our
volleyball.”
Joachim made reference to the involvement of the president of
NORCECA in the construction of a volleyball venue in Haiti after
the catastrophic earthquake that devastated Port- au- Prince,
the capital of Haiti, in January of 2010, with an estimated
death toll of 150,000 people.
“We appreciate the solidarity of Mr. Marte Hoffiz and all his
efforts to help our country in very difficult times,” Joachim
said.
Marte Hoffiz thanked Joachim and gave “deserved credit to FIVB
and the International Olympic Committee for their willingness to
offer the assist requested by NORCECA in that terrible
situation.”
“We (NORCECA) were among the first organizations to join the aid
efforts of the international agencies at that time and to this
day we continue assisting the National Federation of Haiti with
the support of FIVB and other institutions,” Marte Hoffiz said. |
