Hassan Ahmed passed away in Egypt
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 17, 2019 – It is with
great sorrow that we announce the untimely death of Mr. Hassan
Ahmed Mohammed who passed away on’ Tuesday in his native Egypt
one day after chairing the judges’ committee of the African
Women’s Nation Cup.
Mr. Hassan had a long career as volleyball referee and later
became one of the most known personalities of the volleyball
family as FIVB delegate in many international competitions.
“Hassan was a distinguished member of the Volleyball Family who
dedicated his life to develop refereeing in Africa and all over
the world,” said Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, president of NORCECA
Confederation and First Executive Vice President of FIVB. “We
participated together in many competitions and he was not only
an excellent officer but also a friend. He will be missed.”
He became President of the Refereeing Commission of the African
Volleyball Confederation since 2001 and was President of the
FIVB Commission for the period of 2012-2016.
As a referee, he was considered one of the great pioneers as he
conducted matches in most of the world level events including
the final of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 1984. |
