Hato Mayor to host the sixth stage of NORCECA Beach Tour


HATO MAYOR, Dominican Republic, November 3, 2022.- Rancho Ecoturístico Doña Callita will host another major event of the Continental NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour the sixth stage “Hato Mayor 2022” to start on Friday, an event that grants ranking points for the Olympic Games of Paris 2024.

 

The opening ceremony will be chaired by Barceló Salas, president of the Organizing Committee and Cristóbal Marte, NORCECA president.

 

Thirty-two teams from the North, Central American and Caribbean volleyball Confederation will battle until Sunday for the best positions as part of the qualification process for the Olympic Games of Paris, France 2024, trophies, medals, and cash prizes.

 

The opening ceremony will be held at 3:00 pm, with members of the Organizing Committee, presided by businessman Juan Barceló Salas, alongside Hato Mayor authorities led by Governor Julia Mery Vásquez, City Mayor Amado de la Cruz and senator Saury Mota, among others.

 

The competition kicks off at the two beach courts of Rancho Ecoturístico Doña Callita on Friday at 9:00 am.

 

Hato Mayor is the sixth leg of nine to be held this year. The five previous events were at Aguascalientes, Mexico; Varadero, Cuba, La Paz, Baja California (Mexico), Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic and Managua, Nicaragua.

 

Puerto Rico, Saint Kitts, Guatemala, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Cayman Islands, Nicaragua, Canada, United States, Mexico and Costa Rica will compete in the women’s field; teams from Guatemala, Jamaica, Martinica, Saint Kitts, Islas Caimán, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, Panamá, Mexico, Canada, United States and Dominican Republic.

 

Each stage of the tour offers points from 1 to 16 for beach volleyball ranking and is updated every year on January 1st.

The tour is sponsored by the General Customs Department, Baco de Reservas and the NORCECA Volleyball Confederation, Ciclón, ARS Futuro and Induban of Café Santo Domingo among others.

 

Other members of the Organizing Committee are businessman Gustavo Santana, executive director Rubén Darío Cruz; Nelson Ramírez, general and technical director of the tournament; Miguel Ángel Peguero, Benery Richardson, Amadito de la Cruz, Indhira Ramírez, Nancy Brea, Orlando Santana, Juan Balbuena, Pedro Reyes, Waddy Reynoso, Glenys Robles, Alexis Vega and Juan Uribe.
