High School tournament completed in St Croix
CHRISTIANSTED, St Croix, October 16, 2014 - The St. Croix
Central High School 17th Annual Jr. Varsity
Volleyball Tournament was held this past weekend at the Ronald
Charles Basketball Arena in St. Croix, Virgin Islands.
In the female division the Good Hope/Country Day Panthers and
the Educational Complex Barracudas 1st and 2nd
in their pool and the Central High Caribs and the Arthur
Richards Suns finished 1st and 2nd in
their pool.
In the semifinals the Barracudas defeated the Caribs in two out
of three sets with scores of 25-13 and 25-14. In the other
semifinal game the Suns defeated the Panthers in 3 out of 4 sets
with scores of 25-15, 17-25 and 15-10.
In the Championship match the Barracudas coached by Desiree
Miranda defeated the Suns in 2 straight sets with scores of
25-21 and 25-21. The top scorer for the Barracudas was Jahnea
Lynch with 10 points. For the Suns, Fayjah Cruz had 11 points.
In the female Bronze Medal game the Panthers defeated the Caribs
in 2 straight sets with scores of 28-26 and 25-11.
In the male division the Good Hope/Country Day Panthers and the
Educational Complex Barracudas 1st and 2nd
in their pool and the Central High Caribs and the John Woodson
Warriors finished 1st and 2nd in their
pool.
In the semifinals the Caribs defeated the Barracudas in 2 out of
3 sets with scores of 25-19, 19-25 and 15-10. In the other
semifinal game the Good Hope/Country Day Panthers defeated John
Woodson Warriors in 2 straight sets with scores of 25-13 and
25-14.
In the Championship match the Caribs coached by Alphenis
Williams defeated the Panthers in 2 straight sets with scores of
25-17 and 25-18. The top scorer for the Caribs was Esias Charles
with 14 points. For the Panthers, Jett Blaschka had 11 points.
In the Male Bronze Medal game the Barracudas defeated the
Warriors in 2 straight sets with scores of 25-13 and 25-14.
The Female MVP was Melanie Noel of the Lady Barracudas and the
Male MVP was Zedy Kayah Lake of the Caribs. |
