Honduran victory in five sets
TEGUGALPA, Honduras, July 17, 2019 - Honduras defeated Costa
Rica 3-2 (25-14, 25-18, 22-25, 23-25 and 15-6) in the 18th
Central American Women's U-20 Championship that takes place in
the Gym # 2 Jorge Galeano of the city of Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
Honduras had a 2-0 lead, but Costa Rica's reaction was immediate
and they tied the game 2 sets per side. In the end the locals
managed to win the fifth set to stay with the victory, and stay
with Guatemala unbeaten in the tournament.
Honduras was superior in all the lines, but in which it had more
dominance was in the attacks (50-35), in blockades they were
better with 12 against 7 of Costa Rica and in the services they
surpassed the Costa Ricans (9 to 8)
Nathalie Pérez once again stood out as the best scorer of
Honduras and the game, with 41 points in the five sets; while
for Costa Rica, Ana Victoria Rojas scored 15 points and Nicole
Mata scored 10.
With the victory, Honduras is tied with Guatemala in the first
position with 2 wins without defeats, Costa Rica and El Salvador
are tied with one and one, and Nicaragua and Belize are left
without knowing the victory yet. |
