Honduras and Guatemala Prevail in Close Battles at
the Invitational
U15 Central American Championship
MANAGUA, Nicaragua, December 11, 2025 – Honduras came out on top in
a hard-fought battle against Nicaragua to strengthen their position
as the undefeated leaders with three victories, while Guatemala
edged Belize in an intense duel to stay in contention for the top
spots at the Second Invitation U15 Girls’ Central American
Championship.
After the third day of competition, Honduras leads the standings
with a 3-0 win-loss record, followed by Guatemala (2-1), Nicaragua
(1-1), while Belize and El Salvador remain winless after two
outings.
GUA 3-2 BIZ
Guatemala fully entered the battle for the top positions after
defeating Belize 3-2 (20-25, 29-31, 25-23, 25-17, 15-13), a match in
which they had to come from behind to secure the victory.
Danica Reyes led Guatemala’s offense with 17 points, supported by
Kamila Morales with 14 and Alejandra Papa with 13.
For
Belize, Sofía Reshetina was the top scorer with 17 points, while
Chloe Bowman added 16 and A’ Shae Parks tallied 13.
Guatemala made the most of their service points, outperforming
Belize 15-8, and also led in blocks 6-5. Belize, however, dominated
in attack points 55-44 but conceded 49 points in unforced errors
compared to Guatemala’s 41.
HON 3-2 NCA
In
the highlight match of the day, Honduras kept their composure in the
most intense moments to prevail in a tough battle over Nicaragua 3-2
(25-19, 25-17, 23-25, 21-25, 20-18), securing their third win with
no losses in the tournament.
Honduras held the edge in service points 16-14 and blocks 6-2 and
gave away fewer points in unforced errors with 40, compared to
Nicaragua’s 48. Nicaragua led in attack points 48-44.
Luna
Janania was Honduras’ top scorer with 27 points, while Nicaragua’s
Ixtchel Talavera finished with 23 points. |
