INTERVIEWS
Marco Sugiyama, Honduras coach:
“Analyzing the tournament, there was a lot of competition between the
teams, a lot of imbalances among us, but we need to start the next
competition with better performance in order to compete for medals. I am
happy with the boys, the competition is very good, and it has been a
great joy to participate. We will be better prepared for the next
competition”-
Johan Morales, Costa Rica coach:
“I am disappointed in myself, I did not expect these results because we
have a fairly strong selection. We came with a goal that was not
achieved. It was a tournament with many ups and downs, with teams that
caused surprises. We knew the two strongest rivals were Guatemala and
Nicaragua, and coincidentally, we beat them. We forgot about the other
teams. The blow of anxiety and happiness from beating the Champion after
approximately eight years of not doing so was a double-edged sword
because on the next day, when we played against El Salvador, a team we
knew because they even practiced in Costa Rica, they beat us 3-0 and
there the team declined psychologically. We tried to bounce back, the
whole team played because everyone has quality, but there was no way to
recover. Upon returning to Costa Rica, we will rethink and restructure
to continue fighting in the region”. |
