Honduras will play for the fifth after win over Barbados
TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras. August 31, 2018 - Honduras relied on its
main weapon the service and with 18 aces won 3-0 (25-14, 25-16,
25-16) over Barbados and will play tomorrow for the fifth place
of the NORCECA Continental Championship U18 women's against
Costa Rica.
Rocío Durón with 14 and Andrea Aceituno with 12, were the best
scorers for Honduras, and for Barbados, Tennelie Chapman was 12.
Aceituno got 8 "aces", while Isabella Rosa contributed six for
the locals.
Honduras made the difference with the service (18-4) and in the
attack (23-20), in addition to Barbados committed 31 unforced
errors, by 15 of the Honduran. Barbados was better in blocking
(7-3).
Nathaly Pérez, captain of Honduras: "I told my teammates, I told
them we do not have to enter the court with fear, although the
other team is superior, that we are in our country, we are in
our court, with our public" .
"We have been training for more than a year, we have to play
with confidence because of what we have worked in. Despite my
injury it was not possible to play, but I am always with them
and I am totally ready for any advice."
Osiel Vasquez, coach of Honduras: "We are in the second phase of
the competition and tomorrow", for the fifth place against Costa
Rica which is the potential of Central America, where we think
it is a good match, very demanding for the teams and we will try
to obtain the victory ".
"The Costa Rican team is tall, well organized and with good
reception, attack well directed, but treatable to do the best
possible".
Anthazia Mason, Barbados coach: "As you said it is a young team,
it needs more games, it has been a great experience to be here
because it is its first international competition, I am very
happy with what I have done with my times with little time and
few warm-ups, playing these gives us motivation to keep working
