Honduras wins Central American duel to Guatemala
AGUASCALIENTES, Mexico, June 23, 2018.- Honduras prevailed over
Guatemala 3-0 (25-15, 25-12, 26-24) in a Central American duel
for seventh place at the Women’s NORCECA U20 Continental
Championship in Aguascalientes, México.
Honduras finishes seventh with 1-4 record; Guatemala seals with
0-5.
Honduras controlled Guatemala easily in the first two sets.
Guatemala regrouped and held 1a 16-14 margin in the third set
but Honduras finished in a tight 26-24 with strong kills and
mostly serves.
Honduras dominated every aspect of the game, with huge advantage
in serves 8-0, 33-27 in kills and 5-1 in blocking. Honduras
scored on 30 opponent errors and committed 23.

passing have improved, that’s why he had opportunity to attack”.

“Our expectation was to finish in straight sets. Guatemala
stabilized their receiving and that’s why in the third set
things got difficult. There is much too improve to play at a
Continental level, the most important thing is to have more wing
spikers, like Nathaly Perez”.

“This was a learning experience; we have many weaknesses, mostly
our attitude. Today with better attitude we held advantage in
the third set”.
