Honduras wins after strong dispute
MANAGUA, Nicaragua, September 6, 2017.- Honduras prevailed in
three sets (25-20, 25-23, 25- ) over El Salvador after a strong
dispute in the last match of day one of competition of the XVI
AFECAVOL U-21 Men’s Central American Championship at IND
Volleyball venue at Managua, Nicaragua.
El Salvador resisted Honduras’ powerful attacks the entire three
sets but it was Honduras who took the victory while playing with
all their energy.
Honduras controlled every category not by much, proving the
score could have gone either way; the stats were spikes (29-28),
blocking (7-5) and serves (2-1),
Honduras balanced their spikes between Sebastian Aguirre (8
points), Jose Espinal (8 points) and Alex Godoy (7 points),
while El Salvador attacked with Josue Palma on 14 points.
Captain Daniel Salinas of Honduras said “it was a well disputed
match, we were able to get rid of the anxiety before starting
and calm our newcomers in their debut; we must move one point at
a time and await for the days ahead”.
Captain Josue Palma of El Salvador commented “it was a very
close game, we were up on several occasions, unfortunately we
couldn’t keep it up, and therefore we lost” |
