MANAGUA, Nicaragua, December 12, 2015 – Honduras (4-2) finished
their participation at the XVI Women’s Central American
Championship by defeating El Salvador 3-1 (25-17, 23-25, 25-23,
25-12) and are seated at third place with 18 points.
Cecille Johnson finished with a tournament-high 28 points while
Nataly Perez added 13 in the victory. Gabriela Funes and Blanca
Colato had 12 and 10 points, respectively, for El Salvador.
Honduras dominated in attacks 47-34, blocking 11-7 and aces 8-4.
Both teams got 32 points from the opponents’ errors.
An elated Johnson said: “I am happy because we won and played
very well. It is a big achievement thanks to our training. I
train twice a day, in the morning and at night and that’s the
reason for the results.”
Laura Villalobos, captain of El Salvador: “We could have played
better. I think we came in too confident. The truth is that we
didn’t play together, we didn’t have the best attitude.” |
