swept United States 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-22) in
semifinals and will meet European champion
Russia for the 2021 FIVB Girls' U18 title match.
Giulia Ituma led Italy with 23 points, followed
by Giulia Viscioni with 13 tallies. McKenna
Wucherer had 15 points as the best American
scorer.
The Italians held the advantage in blocking 13-8
while the Americans had the upper hand in aces
5-4. Both teams committed the same total of
unforced errors with 17 and the Italians led in
attacks.
Italian middle blockers Naussica Acciarri and
Islam Gannar each had four of the 13 blocks by
the winners. Devin Kahahawai matched that same
total of blocks for the defeated side. |
