Jamaica Volleyball Association receives a donation to safeguard their athletes

KINGSTON, Jamaica, October 20, 2023.- The Jamaica Volleyball Association (JaVA) was received the donation of an automated external defibrillators (AEDs) by Team Jamaica Bickle (TJB).

The handing over ceremony was held at the University of Technology on October 18. The presentation of the defibrillators was followed by an in-person training session on the usage of the AED and its importance, coupled with training in CPR.

Representatives from JaVA including athletes, coaches and referees attended the training.

President of JaVA, Mrs. Jackie Cowan, stated that she “was grateful for the defibrillator and having emergency resources readily available at volleyball events. Although it is hoped that it will never have to be used, it is reassuring that in a case of an emergency we will be able to respond quickly, which could assist in saving a life”.
