Jamaica and Guadeloupe score quarterfinals wins
Nassau, The Bahamas, August 20 - Defending champions Jamaica will
clash with former queens Trinidad and Tobago at 3.00 when the
semifinals of the 19th CAZOVA championships are staged on Day Six in
the Kendal GL Isaac’s National Gymnasium.
Jamaica who lost their opening match in Group C to six times queens
Barbados took the second spot on Day Five by defeating The Bahamas
26-24, 25-18, 21-25, 25-13 in their quarterfinal face off. T&T had
finished top of Group D.
Barbados who are yet to drop a set will battle Guadeloupe at 1.00
after Guadeloupe scored a thrilling five sets win over Suriname
25-22, 25-27, 18-25, 25-21, 15-13. Two serving errors at set point
denied Guadeloupe the chance to go two sets up.
After battling to bring on the decisive fifth set Guadeloupe rushed
out to an 8-0 advantage. Lapses by Guadeloupe allowed Suriname to
ease to 8-10 and then 13-14 before Guadeloupe took the match and the
semifinal spot.
Suriname will face the Bahamas for the 5 /6 positions. |
