Jamaican men come back from behind to defeat Curaçao
PARAMARIBO. Suriname, July 25, 2023.- Jamaica men won their second match
in Poule B 3-1 (29-31, 25-23, 25-12, 25-23) against Curaçao. The reggae
boys redeemed after the loss against Trinidad and Tobago in their
opening match at the Anthony Nesty Sport Hall.
With winning the second game in poule B during these Caribbean
Championships Jamaica seek to win their last game against Bahamas. The
Bajans won their match against Trinidad and Tobago with 3-2 (18-25,
25-22, 19-25, 25-19, 15-11) score.
Jamaica lost the first set to Curaçao
despite giving it all on the court. The reggae boys fought back into the
match giving their opponent all kinds of trouble in the attacking end.
They led Curaçao with a huge 47 to 10 points from attacks, 7 blocks and
5-0 in aces. Jamaica committed 20 unforced errors and Trinidad and
Tobago 34.
Outside hitter Ryck Webb led Jamaica with 29 points including 6 block
and 4 digs. His teammate middle blocker Mark Blake and outside hitter
and team captain Delford Morgan contributed with 18 and 11 points each
respectively. For Curaçao outside hitter and team captain Shuruendy
Valeriano led the team with 17 points including 3 aces. His teammate and
outside hitter Jurcham Meulens also contributed with 17 points.
Jamaica will play their final group game against Bahamas on Wednesday
and Curaçao will face Trinidad and Tobago.

things. Focusing on minimizing errors. It will be a tough game against
Bahamas. They are always a good side to play against. But make the best
win.”

a game plan. The difference between our first game and today is that our
