MEXICO CITY, Mexico, May 24, 2015.- Jorge Barajas carried Mexico
into the semifinals with twenty points while his team defeated
Dominican Republic 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 28-26) at the Men’s Pan
American Cup in the Olympic Gymnasium Juan de la Barrera in
Mexico City.
Outside hitter Jorge Barajas led Mexico’s scores with 20 points,
all in kills. On Dominican Republic’s side, Henry Tapia topped
with 19 points, followed by Pedro Garcia with 12 points and
Henry Lopez with 11 points.
Dominican Republic gave a hard time to the local team that
struggled in finishing the match while losing four consecutive
match points. Mexico benefited by Dominican’s continues unforced
error, 29 in all and limited their own with 15. Dominicans held
advantage in spikes (44-37) and Mexico in blocking (9-5).
Mexico will face Cuba in Wednesday’s semifinal. |
