Brilliant opening ceremony in Baja California
TIJUANA, Mexico, July 2, 2012 – The NORCECA U-19 Boy’s
Continental Championship was inaugurated on Monday with a
brilliant opening ceremony.
The eight participant delegations paraded around the center area
of the Multi-Purpose Gym in the High Performance Center, where a
local group of dancers performed several folkloric acts.
The ceremony was presided over by the authorities of local and
international sport, including the director of competition and
representative of NORCECA, Bertha Cuadra, who thanked the
Organizing Committee for its efforts and facilities to put on
the event.
“This event serves for the development of the future of our
Confederation, as well as for volleyball in Mexico and the
countries of NORCECA and our athletes,” Cuadra said, while
crediting the Sport and Physical Culture of Baja California for
all the support.
On behalf of the Mexican Volleyball Federation, its president
Ismael Acosta García, officially pronounced the opening of the
competition, remarking the goodwill shown by Baja California,
through the Institute and the state volleyball association, by
hosting several tournaments and supporting all the programs of
the Federation.
Also, Saul Castro Verdugo, General Director of Baja California
Sport and Physical Culture Institute, welcomed the teams and
special guests just before the match between hosts Mexico and
U.S. Virgin Islands. |
