U.S. Virgin Islands finish seventh
TIJUANA, Mexico, July 7 2012 — The US Virgin Islands team won
its first match in the NORCECA Boys’ U-19 Continental
Championship to finish in the seventh place of the tournament
after beating French Saint Martin 3-1 (25-19, 25-22, 22-25,
25-21).
Aseah Thomas and Jordan Evans led the US Virgin Islands with 16
points apiece. For French Saint Martin Stephane Morisseau and
Ashille Brooks each tallied 12 each while Kareem Brooks added
11.
“It was a good match I just want to congratulate Saint Thomas
(Virgin Islands) for this victory,” Saint Martin’s captain
Fresnet Fabre said. Coach Lakish Plante remarked: “This was
pretty intense for both of us”.
For US Virgin Islands coach, Mark Daniel the victory finally
arrived, but he expected more in the tournament.
“We are very excited about this win, we came out with an
attitude and good execution, but expected to do better and we
are still a long way to go,” Daniel said about finishing
seventh. |
