Peru opens with victory of El Salvador

TIJUANA, Mexico, July 3 2011 - Peru defeated El Salvador 3-0 (25-9, 25-9, 25-9) in the opening of the First Girls U18 Pan American Cup at the Baja California High Performance Center.

Peruvian captain Milagros Rodriguez was the best scorer with 15 points, while Angela Leyva tallied 14 and Izabot Bravo 10. For El Salvador Maria Jose Galeano finished with 8.

“Experience was shown here, and Peru did it, any way we hope everything we learn here, can help us for our Central American competition that we will play after this tournament”, said El Salvador’s Coach Sady Lopez.

Meanwhile, Manuel Artieda, head coach of Peru stated: “We could give the chance to play to all our players and practically this was the first International match for the girls”.

Peru will match Puerto Rico, while El Salvador will face Dominican Republic in the their second match of this tournament on Monday
