A
MEXICALI, Mexico.- Brazil defeated Puerto Rico 3-0 (25-17,
25-9, 25-18) and finished on top of Pool A at the Boys’ U19 Pan
American Cup.
Joao Ferreira finished with 15 points for Brazil, while Flavio
Gualberto tallied 9. For Puerto Rico, Carlos Acosta scored 7.
“We discovered a lot of weakness in this match and We’ll try to
find the way of correcting them prior to the World
Championship”, said Acosta.
“Brazil took advantage of our mistakes, and we need to be
more consistent in blocking, despite the loss this was good for
us, because it will help us to identify what we must improve”,
stated Ramon Lawrence, coach of Puerto Rico.
“We have been growing up in this tournament step by step. We
still have to be better in our counterattack and make the most
of our synchronization between the passing and spiking game”,
said Flavio.
“We studied Puerto Rico while watching them in yesterday’s match
before this one, as like Flavio said, we hope to improve to be
in good shape for the world championship”, remarked Brazilian
coach Percy Oncken. |
