Brazil adds another win in Pool B
CIUDAD JUAREZ, México, July 2, 2011 - Brazil added another win
in Pool B by defeating Costa Rica 3-0 (25-15, 25-12, 25-10) on
the second day of action of the 10th Women´s Pan
American Cup at Universidad Autonoma Ciudad Juarez.
Brazil with a strong attack and team-work prevailed over an
inexperienced Cost Rica that had a much better performance
during the first set of the match.
With 10 points each, Brazilians Thaisa Menezes and Fernanda
Rodrigues were the top scorers of their team, and Karen Cope of
Costa Rica helped her team with 11 points.
Fabiana Claudino praised her team’s performance: “Our serves
were decisive and we are much more consistent with each match, I
congratulate Costa Rica that defended themselves well.”
While Karen Cope of Costa Rica said: “We lost our confidence
throughout the match, we tried much better in the first set as
we know Brazil is one of the top ranked teams in the world.”
“We must concentrate better because if we make the kind of
mistakes we did today against Puerto Rico or USA it may cost
us,” said Jose Roberto Guimaraes of Brazil.
Braulio Godinez of Costa Rica said: “Our team lost the
confidence and there was a lack of high spirit and I believe we
could have done better.” |
