Brazil scores victory over Peru
CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico, July 4, 2011 - Brazil scored one more
victory in Pool B, defeating Peru 3-0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-23) at
the 10th Women’s Pan American Volleyball Cup.
A South American battle between Brazil and Peru was held at
Universidad Ciudad Juarez where Brazilians showed their
offensive attack to dominate the Peruvians, who nearly won the
third set. Brazil has a 4-0 win-loss record making tomorrow’s
match against the Americans a must see.
Brazil had in Sheila Castro as its top scorer with 11 points and
Fabiana Claudino with 11, three of them blocks. On Peru’s side,
Mirtha Uribe and Karla Ortiz contributed 10 a piece.
Fabiana Cluadino was happy for the team and said: “We focused
and never thought we could have lost the third set.”
Captain of Peru, Diana Soto indicated: “I am very pleased with
our effort today, we deserved to win the third set but we still
have to improve many things.”
Jose Roberto Gimaraes said to the press: “Peru lost a very
important player earlier in the tournament, which made things
difficult for them, but in the end they made a good job.” About
his team: “We must establish a game plan to make fewer
mistakes.”
While Luca Cristofani talked about Peru: “When you’re up against
a strong team like Brazil and your team plays like mine did, it
is very satisfying, I am very pleased with what they did”. |
